SPECIAL IMMIGRANT (EB-4) GREEN CARD BASIC REQUIREMENTS
Basic requirements under the Certain Special Immigrant Visa category include the requirement for applicants to have previously entered the United States and become employed in the occupation listed. However, all special immigrants can apply for permanent residence without having a continuing offer of employment. Individual requirements apply to each category of special immigrants. All applicants, however, will be subject to health and character requirements.
Specifically, for a religious worker to be eligible for a Green Card as a Special Immigrant, the applicant must be a qualified minister of religion with at least two years of experience. The applicant must have been a member of their religious denomination for at least the past two years. The applicant must be coming to the US to work for a bona fide religious organization. In addition, the applicant will be subject to health and character requirements.
SPECIAL IMMIGRANT (EB-4) GREEN CARD ENTITLEMENTS
Successful applicants can live and work in the United States permanently. Their spouse and unmarried children under the age of 21 who wish to accompany the applicant to the US may also obtain US Green Cards.
Obtaining permanent residence in the US allows residents to take advantage of exceptional benefits. They may travel to and from the United States with few limitations, study and work in the US without any limitations, sponsor their close family members and apply for US citizenship when eligible to do so.
