During the same year he joined the Hon’ble Society of Inner Temple London, later he obtained his LL.M (Masters in Law & Development) from University of Warwick.

During the Course of his study Barrister Ali Mumtaz Shaikh undertook several extensive researches on sensitive social issues such as Muslim Women in Islam, Child Solider, Right to Food etc. Being inspired by his father (Late) Mumtaz Shaikh, advocate of Supreme Court, Barrister Ali Mumtaz Shaikh decided to practice in his own country and hence he returned to Pakistan in 2000. Upon his arrival he was offered to lecture law at the University of Karachi, S.M Law College, where he is still teaching Law of Torts, Contract, Trust, International Law, Banking & Finance and Shipping – Maritime Law. However, soon after he was offered (amongst the only two Asian practitioners) a place, to study at University of Oxford, New College, in the field of IHRL (International Human Rights Law). At University of Oxford he was trained to appear and draft pleadings before the International Court of Human Rights and International War Crimes Tribunal.

He, thereafter decided to secure a third Post Graduate Degree and hence his LL.M (Master in Maritime Law) from University of Cardiff, Wales, UK. At present Barrister Ali Mumtaz Shaikh is the running his own Law Firm with three offices and presences across Pakistan.

Despite, his successes in education and practicing law in Pakistan, he is still endeavouring to be unique amongst the legal fraternity, hence in 2010 he was granted Membership with the Charted Institute of Arbitrators (Ciarb) in London, UK and thereby he is seeking to complete his fellowship from the Charted Institute to be recognised as a fully qualified Arbitrator for National and International Arbitration.
